Clever neon mod

Lan's Florist
You don't normally find clever hacks and recycling combined at the florist shop, but that is just what we have at our local strip mall. This neon sign reads "lan's florist" but used to read "Mango's florist." Very resourcefully, they taped over the "g", "o", and most of the "M" to make it read "lan" instead. We had to work hard to get a picture that shows off their modifications, but that means that most of the time (except for the slightly awkward spacing) you don't even notice that the sign has been altered.

taped up neon mod If you look closely, you can see the electrical tape covering most of the "M" in "Mango."
Lan's Florist Here's their non-neon sign. It is a little more straightforward to adapt a painted sign: just paint over it. It is so straightforward that there is no way to tell from the painted sign whether Mango's florist was in the same location.
Lan's Florist
Here you can see that it looks pretty normal head-on, except perhaps for the largish gap between the "n" and the apostrophe.

So, our question is whether they bought the sign after they named the shop, or named the shop based on what they could do with the sign? In either case, this is a clever modification to allow reuse of a neon sign.
